Introduction

In today's manufacturing processes, chemical products reaction hazards appear in manifold ways. The S2S task group "Hazardous substances and chemical reaction hazards" has designed three different assessment tools to face the major problems of wanted and unexpected reactions and reactors. The assessment tools are:

Any of the assessment tools were primarily elaborated to raise safety awereness. In any difficult or doubtful situtation it is recommended to consult safety experts in order to protect life and health as well as the environment and assets.

Self-Assessment of Reactivity Hazards

The Self-Assessment tool of reactivity hazards deals with the major questions of reactivity and compatibility of the used substances as well as with the more safety relevant handling procedures. It originates from the HarsMeth tutorial developed by the HarsNet project group.
