Explosion protection

Technical or constructive measures taken to limit or mitigate the effects of an explosion: flames, pressures and reaction products.

There are four main groups of techniques:

  • Isolation (prEN 15089)
  • Suppression (prEN 14373)
  • Venting (EN 14491:2006, prEN 14797, prEN 14994)
  • Explosion resitant equipment (EN 14460:2006).
